Play some barry manilow and he'll be out in no time. Ask marmaduke if you don't have any.
Yer profile says Freelander 2. The spare wheel if fitted lives under a large lift out panel inside the car, under the boot space. Lift the panel out and have a look.

I did all that in the first place. I think he'll be behind the side trim panels but there's no way of getting them off that I can see. There's water and a dead mouse waiting for him and I've now taken out the 2 little trays above the wheel hubs so he can actually get out of there... 48 hours and counting

Oi chicks love a bit of Bazza

I appreciate as a Freelander driver you're a bit more into Jimmy Somerville.... Your life story awaits:D

Read the post in the link below by dunroof. There's a few things to undo, then pull the trim and the push fit plugs will come out.

it will end up looking like these pic's:

I am really quite happy (understatement as I was about to take off the trim thanks to Lord Hippo :)) to say that Colin has been retrieved easily. He's wormed his way out of I don't know where and not even bothered with the gourmet meal I'd left for him.
My son, his owner, will be able to function again and will not now kill his sister when he gets back on Friday. He's got Aspergers, is greatly affected by this sort of thing and is away at school during the week which has been a godsend and vital for her safety given that she was not paying attention to him when she should have been making sure he didn't get out of the box. She is also pretty happy about it!
So that makes us all even. We've each lost (and found) a snake and this was by far the easiest, most low maintenance and shortest loss. My book 'Confessions of a Corn Snake' is taking shape nicely!

Thanks everyone for your help (I use the word 'help' fairly loosely for some of you!). The biggest thing was knowing he couldn't get out and that at some stage he would surface. :D:D:D

Good result, pleased you have recovered your reptile in good condition! :)

Just a thought, but would a tank with a tight fitting mesh lid for travelling relieve the workload on little sis?

We have one of those but it was an unfortunate series of events (created by the owner of the snake!) which led to his unplanned presence in the car in the first place it won't be happening again - although I'm sure this isn't the last time we will have to go snake hunting!
