Help part 2!! Caliper won't fit back on...

Now I have the new disk and pads on the caliper won't fit back on. There isn't enough clearance for the caliper to come down over the outer pad. Is the upper caliper guide meant to move in and out? Mine is fixed.

Any suggestions?

Yes the calipers are fully wound in. There is loads of space between the calipers and the back pad. The issue is at the front.

Sounds like you might have the wrong pads.
I had the same problem - ordered calipers and pads from Paddocks and what they sent wern't a matching set!

The backplates on the pads look exactly like the old ones, but maybe the surface is too thick.

I am still thinking that about this top caliper guide pin. It is fixed, but has a rubber boot over it and looks exactly like the lower one. It would be good if someone could confirm whether it is supposed to be fixed before I start trying to persuade it with a hammer..

Fixed it. Yes the calliper guide pin should be free. I took off the caliper holder, held the pin in the vice and then wiggled until it was free.
