I have just come back to the world of land rovers and am glad to be back in time for all this snow they are predicting. Thing is I was smitten by a 1993 90 defender 200tdi as it drove brilliant and had many of the mods on it I would have gone for. It came with just a bikini top and was a cold drive home I can tell you. Ive put a secondhand hood on it to make it useable but considering Im going to be using it to cart kids around in etc I think the way forward for me would be to fit a hard top. Its not that I am a wuss or anything honest! Thing is it has a roll cage fitted and this would need to come out first. Im after advice as to how hard this is to do, would the cage sell, how much would a hard top be and where would be best place to source one? I realize its a bit like how longs a piece of string but any advice would be welcome.

if the soft top fits over the cage then a hard top may well

my hard top fitted over this in the winter....

cheers steve

Theres a few thoughts to be going on with cheers. The cage I have extends down the middle of the back and I will have to either chop that bit out or chop the kids legs off. I thought the hardtop with windows may make it more civilized for them if we went on a greenlaning trip but obviously more expense by the time i may have to adapt it etc. the one for £60 you saw is that the one with windows down i cornwall? Miles away from sunny yorkshire sadly.

Its a 90 but I think where the cage fits behind the cab area it sticks out to the sides but thats not insurmountable Im sure! Ive been looking on ebay at hard tops with sides but curremtly they are all miles away and want collection and not delivery.
