Disco 2 Help needed please

hi all can you please look at the pic below,and tell me what the large black disk thing that the screw driver is pointing at is please?i was only taking the acoustic cover off to get a better look at the egr condition

as you can see here it does not seem to be fitted correctly !!!!!,how do i rectify this? and how serious is it while like this?(pic below shows better)


and yep the EGR valve def looks like it needs a good clean or blocking off

Erm.... Not sure what it is mine has a o ring type rubber around it I was woundering what it was for the other day when I was under the bonnet. Excuse the dirt I need to clean the engine bay.

They dont last, I treat it like a service item

I will add that to my list of things to do

Something else land rover kindly gave you for getting rid of your oil!
They have the nerve to call it a seal.

BIGGEEEEE, are they hard/difficult to change?

2 minute job, the old one will just fall out.
Just rub a little oil on the new rubber and it will push in and click home
Easy to spot when its leaking and passed its best as you see oil staining at the bottom of the seal

just order a new one

As an emergency measure I resealed my old one with RTV. Lasted for 12K miles until I changed it during my rebuild.
But they are cheap as chips, if you order one online today you will have it Tuesday.
