Help needed no spark after new recon engine fitment

Hi i'm a newbie here and would like to know if anyone out there could please advise me on how to get spark in the spark plugs back again. Here's the history. I lost a T-belt tension-er which led to the failure of a intake valve, which led to the removal of entire engine and swap for a overhauled reconditioned one. I have replaced the engine into the vehicle and buttoned up all i could see. Except for one plug a white one on the tranny side which is part of the engine harness. I understand that there should be a crankshaft position sensor plug, and i am not sure if this "white plug" must be fitted to that. Also when receiving the recon engine, i don't see any plug for the crankshaft position. So after inspection i tried firing her up but don't get any spark at the plugs, or even The engine is a 1.8l k petrol freelander 1 2001.
What am i doing wrong and what advise may you give me. Please Please Please.
