Defender 300tdi does not restart after short journey's Hi All,

Wonder if you can help / if this is a common fault. If I take my landy for a relatively short journey (five mins or so) - enough time for it to warm up etc and then stop, jump out etc.

When i try and restart - i get nothing from the starter motor. All of the dash lights come on ok, heater coils for diesel (light comes on and goes off) - but no turning over of engine.

Anyone any ideas?

I have changed the startermotor, have also pulled all the main fuses (60 amp etc) and made sure that corrosion is not an issue.

Any advice / thouhts / common fault information much appreciated.

Cheers,

Stuart.

Starter solenoid cannot be working,or not getting 12volts on it-if it is getting 12v on it,and volts is coming out, then starter motor no good

I would try changing the starter motor brushes first-or at least check they are not stuck in their holders due to a build up of carbon dust and ****e-a good clout with a bit of 4x2 sometimes moves them down a bit to make contact if you get stuck somewhere

Any further thoughts on this problem, My Defender 300tdi is doing this and it's driving me nuts. I've tried a new starter and also put a fresh connector on the trigger wire in the starter, but all to no avail. Sometimes she starts and sometimes she doesn't! Is there a relay that might need replacing?
