Hey can one help iv got a 52 plate freelander sport 2 litre diesel. Started it this morning drove to work, popped in work for 10 mins came back out and wont start at all, turns over but just wont fire up. This happened to me about 4 months ago and I had the injectors done and was fine, only thing is I cannot hear the pump switching on now that is behind me somewhere? Normally put the ignition on and theres a noise behind me for a few seconds and goes, but theres no noise what so ever now? Any ideas?

Hi,
Type your question into the search bar (by your name) - you will find some helpful suggestions until someone comes along who can help you;)

hiya, ive also got a td4 , sounds like ur fuel pump has died on you,

have u checked ur fuses to the pump, if there ok u could see if u have power to the fuel pump, if i may say if ur fuel pump has gone get a genuine one and also replace the fuel filter at the same time, as there hard to get at behind the rear wheel arch and at least u wont have to worry about it for a while

hope that may help a little bit

gary

Did you have any luck with this?

I just had exactly the same problem with my 52 plate TD4, working one minute, popped out and now just turns over, but doesn't start.

I've cracked open a fuel pipe, and there is pressure when turning over. Is that normal if the rear pump has gone? I can still hear the front one going OK

Sorry to hijack!!

Let the engine cool and then try starting it again......to rule out camshaft sensor.

Ok, has it been taking longer to start during cranking recently?
You say you have fuel coming out at pressure on cranking...so I assume fuel pumps are ok...my next step would be to do a leak back test on the injectors and or get it code read to see if it comes up low fuel pressure which would possibly indicate an injector fault.
