Hey Guys,

I recently borrowed my companys work trailer, which has been very much abused over its work life, and has some extremly dodgy electrics. having picked it up and having no lights on it (except for the number plate) i took it home, and cleaned all the contacts up, plugged it back in and viola! we had sidelights. however when i indicated all the lights flashed (?). now, i couldnt give a monkeys about the trailer (im never using it again!!) i have now lost my indicators on my disco, although bizarrly, the hazards still work. has anybody else experianced this? any ideas on the subject would be much appreciated!!!

might be simply that you need a heavy duty indicator relay?
after that, then a bad earth can cause all sorts of weird problems?

Sounds like the earth from the trailer to the vehicle is no good. When the earth wire through the plug is bad, electricity finds it way to earth, and that is uaually through the other globes, hence them all coming on. Check the earth first with a test light (cheap to buy, cheaper to make).

hey Guys

Thanks for all your posts, turns out it was a bad earth. after i posted i found out i had no brake lights either, meaning it had simply shorted out a fuse, replaced my fuse and have informed my employer he needs to fix the wiring!!

Many Thanks again!!
