Hi people. I've got a 2000 D2, I only bought it a couple of weeks ago and last week I changed the radiator. When I reconnected the battery the key fob, of which I've only got one, stopped working and I can't turn the immobiliser off. Initially when I disconnected and then reconnected the battery again the immobiliser went off and i could start and drive the motor. However as soon as i turned the ign off and took the key out the immobilser came on again needing the battery to be disconnected/reconnected again. However this no longer works and the immobilser is now on and won't come off. I've tried my hawkeye diagnostic handset on it and in the transmitter section it says the plip (keyfob) needs reprogramming. The local LR dealer has supplied my with a 4 digit key number and a 4 figure EKA number. The hawkeye appears to need a longer key number than 4 digits and the EKA code won't input with the key in the door lock. The door lock works and operates the central locking/unlocking so I assume the door sender is functioning. Any suggestions as to where I can get a longer key number or better still any suggestion regarding getting rid of the immobilser facility all together will be gladly received!

Welcome to LZ, Andy! :)

Think I will leave that one to someone more experienced with D2 electronics than myself. Problems are common, plenty of experience on the forum!

Thinking @neilly might have some ideas about that one.

After posting the above I saw at the bottom of the page an ad for a company called dynachip who will remove the immobilser from my ECU if I send it up to them for £225. Has anyone tried this, is it worth contemplating considering how landrover are currently getting stolen?

Cheers Neilly. I'll have a look later when I've got better data signal in my phone, oh the joys of living in a boat. My hawkeye seems to be communicating as it's read and cleared the DTCS. Also it registers that I've pressed the button in the fob (plipper) when I'm in the transmitter section but says the plipper needs reprogramming hence needing the full number rather than the four digit number the local dealer has given me. Apparently that just refers to the cut of the key rather than the chip.

What innernet you got?

I use an EE dongle, self contained wi-fi unit that runs on batteries, and a laptop running linux. To be fair, it is pretty good if there is any kind of mobile signal, though not up to what a hardwired system will get.

What is the red light on the dash doing?

Can you find someone local with a nanocom as it can program the car to accept the key using the code written in the key fob, hawkeye requires a longer code. ( you could search on here for a key code translator which may allow you to get the full code by wntering the code written in the fob) i know I have put the internet address in here before. But I have never known anyone use it on a hawkeye.

Cheers

I just rely on my phone data package for my Internet, it's normally a good 4G signal at my mooring but not today as luck would have it.
I've got the EKA code accepted now, bit of wd40 in the lock made the difference as I don't think it the lock was quite coming back to centre from the locked position. At least I'm mobile now and can get to my parents place and get on their WiFi. I'll have a look at the links you've sent and see if I can chase down this code too. Cheers Neil for your help, it's very much appreciated bud!

People using smartphones on my boat don't get such a good result, sometimes acceptable, but not as good.

There are reasons, the dongle has a better aerial, and is a dedicated innernet receiver, and the Linux systen doesn't get random updates and needs no inernet security, so less effected by heavy innernet traffic in the locality.

If it is a problem for you, give it a try, pretty sure you will get better results.

If you open up the key fob, as if you were changing the battery, and take out the circuit board the code you need to re sync the key with the ECU should be printed on there. I know the procedure using a nanocom but you'll have to check how it's done using Hawkeye

Are you a fellow boatie then mate! I'm on gift gaff and have unlimited data which more than suffices for my needs, I normally only use the t'internet for Facebook etc tbh. My Bro is also a boatie and he's been using a dingle etc for a while now and I've used my phone via his WiFi but it didn't seem any faster etc.
I've just got the code from the back of my circuit board and I've also had a look at a link to get the code from that for the hawkeye, unfortunately the link doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's not in a format that works on phones.

I love my boat, I can't imagine not living on it! It's a world away from so called normal life isn't it! I was bridge hopping for a good while but had to find a secure mooring in the end though so I can park my van full of tools and my disco safely. Only drawback i could seeto the constant cruising was car/van security.

I love mine too, I would rather tie a trim weight round my neck and jump in the cut than live in a house! :D

I have a mooring, but I get off it whenever I can, and hoping to cruise permanently one day, when I have sorted other life commitments out.
I have a 20 foot storage container for my heavy kit, and ramps so I can drive a vehicle into it. 2.2 miles from my mooring, and it isn't a lot of money either!

Forgot! I am not only a fellow boater, but a fellow Andrew as well! ;):)

Cool fellow Andy! Lol! I've been very fortunate with my mooring. My dad's getting a bit rickety with age and I needed to be fairly close in case my mom needs help if he's fallen over etc. I managed to get a mooring as physically close to them as the canal gets, I'm just across the lane and one field away so I can to them quicker on foot than I can drive around the lane to them! It also means ive the small holding and barns to keep stuff at. Unfortunately I'm under a lot of tree cover so solar panels are a bit of a waste of time and I rely on my engine or my generator for power. Hoping early next year that a mate of mine whose got some land with moorings just around the corner from me will have one of the moorings come free. I'll be in the sun then so solar will be the way to go.

but you'll have to check how it's done using Hawkeye

For a Hawkeye you need the "bar code" that is only on the label attached to new key fobs.

However I have posted this link before on here, not sure who actually wrote the translator. but have not ever come across anyone who has tried to use it.

Maybe @Andy Worley , you would like to give it a try????:p:p:p

Cheers

That sounds pretty good. My folks are getting on a bit too. They live about 2 hours drive from here, and are pretty healthy for people in their 80s. If they do get bad, I can run down and find somewhere to moor a few miles from their house, so I can look after them, but not have to stay there.

Trees over the mooring are a bore, not just because of the panels, but because of the stuff that falls out of them, and the bird sh!t on the roof. Chainsaw or copper nails would be the best bet.

I think my ideal sceanario would be to find a house with an off side mooring at the end of the garden, then I could rent out the house, and moor up there for servicing etc., and maybe more permanently when I get even older and more decrepit.

I've just tried using the codes from the chart, I've tried the European. the N American and the S African prefixs and all three with both the last figure as is and as question marks. unfortunately with out success!
I have however found a good guy on FB D2 boys club unbiased version who lives about 20 mins away and has offered to use his Nanocom which should be able to do it from the six digit number in the fob. fingers crossed eh?

Sounds good, the nanocom is much better for this. 10 minutes tops, whilst he is in there get him to change your EKA code to something easy to remember, also change your alarm setting to "always" ( this means the key will disable the noisy alarm as well as the fob).

Thanks for trying the spreadsheet, I always wondered if it worked.

lub unbiased version

What is an unbiased version?

Cheers
