Is it difficult to put on Spanish plates out there then? Easy enough to register a dutch car here.

@Rubberknees: I would wait and see what Brexit brings before heading out there. An old neighbour did it years ago, lasted a year or so but missed the UK (and work) and ended up coming back and not so much working but tinkering for cash.
Very difficult to register a UK car in Spain and so quite likely difficult to register a Dutch one. The Spanish conveniently ignore the EU free movement of personal possessions rules, it is also difficult to register pre 2000 cars here in France, it took me 3 years to get my 1986 MRS approved for registration.

Its expensive...although that is changing...
How do you change a car on Dutch plates into your name to register it in UK if you dont live in the Netherlands and its not in your name and you bought it in Spain...UK reg cars if you want to import them here must be in your name on the V5 and they check to see how long and will ask for proof of you living at the address shown if they think theres something dodgy like your using a family address and havent lived there.

Totally agree, what I have told the missis. Way things are going with EU I reckon Spain and Italy will be the next to leave

Last time just drove straight in but didn't apply to change it to British plates for a while.
