Help guys advice on slow 2.5 na series 3 ??

Is your exhaust up to it, no restrictions, silencer blockage, the 2.5 has a bigger bore. The RR difs will only give the potential of another 8-10 mph your engine should be up to the job.
The easy checks I would do
Fuel pick up clean?
Fuel pipes correctly fitted, meaning feed and return in the correct way around.
Lift pump ok
Fuel filter ok
Air filter ok, also no restrictions in the air intake, I have seen rags partially blocking.
Valve clearances, not too tight, rocker arms not pitted?
I have seen the crankshaft bolt come slack and cause the crank belt pulley to wear retarding the timing.
Assuming the engine is mechanically sound, compression etc
Your fuel system, injectors & injector pump overhaul, costly though.

Just had a fort. You DO mean a 2.5 n/a, like as fiited into early 90's/110's duntcha? Not just a standard 2.25 standard Series doosul lump?

I have noticed when i drive the land rover say 10 miles i have noticed the exhaust is VERY hot and the end of the tail pipe is this normal or could the series exhaust be to resticted for the larger 2.5 lump ???

Does anyone know if the 90 2.5 diesel exhaust is a large bore than a 2.25 diesel exhaust ???

Do you think that the series exhaust couild be causing the problem then maybe the gases cant get out quick enough ??

Would a 90 exhaust fit on the series ??
I am not worried if i have to mod hangers but i wonder if its design to under the crossmember like the series one ??

I am not sure about the 90 exhaust on a S3, everything is possible, the larger exhaust is for a reason!! But I don’t know of the impact it would have.
The silencer is the most likely cause of a restriction.
Others might have the conversion with the standard system have they any issues?
