Disco 1 Help!!! Discovery A-frame to chassis

Got to replace the A-frame bushes & fulcrum on my Disco, however for the life of me I cannot move the nuts & bolts A-frame to chassis!!! No matter how / what pressure I put on them they're stuck solid. I've bathed them in Plusgas, tried shocking them, biggest pry-bar I can swing on, but they won't budge.

Anyone got any ideas??? other than cutting em off (which is the last resort

I cut mine off, only took a few minutes .. you need new bolts anyway ...

Reciprocating saw worked better than a grinder and was more controllable.

Buster has a really good 'How-to' on the A-frame parts, but they are a pig of a job ...

Many people buy parts with the bush already fitted because of access to a big feck-off press or such like ... the Bay of E may help with this ...

Thanks guys, I've already got the the part with the bush fitted (thinking it would be easier ) and have read that thread, but jeez them bolts are tight!!! Looks like I'll have to find me reciprocating saw then

Saw is the best way as its a bit close to the fuel tank for the big grinder, I found mine quite easy once I took the body off......
All mine are Polys so easy to fit once you have the old ones out.

And if your not taking the body off get a comfy mat to lay on it takes a while.

Well after struggling somewhat yesterday I managed to cut the 2 chassis bolts off and also ended up cutting off the castle nut as that was seized on too. The problem I have no is that the 2 bolts that hold the fulcrum to the legs will not come out I've tried allsorts to get them to move but they refuse!!!! The nuts came off fairly easily as I'd soaked everything in Plusgas prior to attempting this but the bolts are not playing ball at all. I ended up getting the chassis legs & fulcrum out all in one go (Bloody heavy & awkward too) I got the whole thing on the bench and used gentle persuasion with the biggest lump hammer I have but neither bolt will budge

Any one any ideas or is it just a case of hit it till they fall off??????

Turn the bolts with a breaker bar until they rotate easier then knock them out.
You may have damaged or mushroomed the protruding thread preventing the bolt knocking cleanly through so cut off the protruding part flush, rotate the bolt as mentioned then knock it through.

Haha!!! Easier said than done, but I got there. Tried to rotate the bolts & BOTH snapped off so I just resorted to brute force & belted the hell outa them & eventually both came out. Talk about stubborn Took the bushes out next & gave them a good wire brushing ready for painting, rebushing and remounting.
