After many years the draggon has finally relented and has given her blessing for me to get myself a Landy, :) So now the Quest begins! I have a limited budget and even more limited knowledge, I thought that a disco 300 tdi would be an ideal starter vehicle so any help and advice that any of you Guys /Gals out there with regards what to look out for etc. will be greatfully recieved...

Thanks Bigwadey

welcome to looneyzone - if yu search on here, this topic has been covered exhaustively.

primarily rust.

hee hee - i have just found this...

"Here is just one example check for the Land Rover Discovery (1989- 1998):

What to look for
When driving on a good flat road, check that the car holds a straight line easily and doesn’t wander to the side of the road. Then turn the wheel from side to side to test how precise the steering is. It should be firm and decisive, not vague and woolly.
What it means (if you find this fault)
If the car wanders or the steering is vague, the problem is usually the ball joints or suspension arms.
What to do (your options)
Negotiate a £650 discount or have the repair completed."
