So I take it Freelander owners rank low in the pecking order of the Landrover family

Not in my book mate,
My first Land Rover was a Freelander and I absolutely loved it !
FAR more capable than people give them credit for.
If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't be here now, and also I wouldn't be a proud disco owner

On your freelander did you ever change the EGR valve to the modified blanking off valve

yes mate, 10 minute job and I was a novice at it
My freelander was the original 2.0L diesel engine, pre TD4
Look in the freelander forum on here you'll find HEAPS of info from people WAY more experienced than I

Well maybe, but that's still pretty high in the pecking order of cars generally, and one day you might upgrade to a real one!

I have a 2005 Freelander 1 TD4 2.0 facelift
I just did my own service ,first time I have done it.Did everything apart from fuel filter as it looks a bit tricky .I might have a go at the EGR bypass next but does anyone know if it will have problems going through the MOT with this modification?
