hi. I have been reading lots of posts put on about the mk1 Freelander with the rover engine fitted and lots don't have a good thing to say about then. I have got the rover engine in mine and have had it for about 8weeks now and at first wondered what I had done as it was so slow and trying to get up hills was a no go and it did not help as car before was a 1.8 Vectra but was not good for towing so had a talk with my old man and he said Freelander if you can get your hands on one. this Freelander came up and traded car and rest in cash and I had a towing car. done as much as I can at the moment and towing is ok but slow on the hills still but it gets there the only thing am not shore about is the turbo so have order a boot gage to see if im getting boot at the activator as not shore if its working and I have done smock test on pipes and all ok. any other help would be appreciated yours Colin:confused::mad2:.

hi. can any one tell me what I can get out of the 2.0ld freelander as when I power on it still slow on take off and the turbo is putting out 15 psi at 3000 revs. when I put my caravan on the back is is like going up hill back woods. I have been over all I can see and cant find anything and how should the brakes be as Im not to shore how the stopping is on this car as I don't no anyone else with one that I can try and see how much different they are. all help would grate. :smash:

WELCOME!

OK Have a look in the Freelander section of the forum, hopefully most problems may already have been covered and there's knowledgeable, helpful peeps in there, all banter aside.

Speaking of banter, make sure you've unplugged any heated rollers and curling tongs - the amount of power they sap from the engine wreaks havoc with performance. ;) Park the caravan next to the hair salon whilst you unpack any and all hair care products from the vehicle :p

Welcome.

Pop over to the Freelander section. More L series owners will see your posts there.

Make sure you don't park it next to an old series or defender or disco, 'cos it might catch tin worm :D
