Hello,

I've joined as somebody who is thinking about joining the L322 Range Rover ranks in the next 18 months or so. I hope to read up and learn about the car here first, before taking an 'informed' plunge in the future.

I currently own quite a rare car - an imported 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX automatic saloon in the famous WR blue, but my wife is planning to change our other car (SUV) for a smaller car later this year, hence my 18 month plan.

When the time does come I'll be looking for a 2005 L322 4.4 petrol version with the BMW lump in and converting it to LPG for those 'family car running costs'. I've already gleened from elsewhere this is the engine recommended for this conversion, rather than the 4.2 SC or 4.4 Jag unit.

Anyway hello to you all and I hope to learn a lot from you in the coming year. Please excuse my ignorance for any dumb questions asked :D

Hi and welcome.
The Japs know how to spec their cars, none of these draconian clutch pedals.

My old man runs a td6 l322. Generally it costs an arm and a leg to maintain, but it is a joy to drive no slouch.

A nice 3.0 outback would swerve the garage bills and still match the fuel economy of a RR on LPG. If that's too small, buy my Tribeca and I'll get the outback :D

Hi both,

I had a mint 55 plate 3.0 auto outback before the wrx....regret parting with it at times and wish I'd just kept it and LPGd it now. Still, I would never have had the joy of the wrx haha.

Only problem with Tribeca is £500 road tax, which I simply refuse to be fleeced for with any car. Super reliable and a rare sight though. Love the swoopy dash!

I've had foresters including a 2.5xt auto and I was after an outback this time. Narrowly missed out on a 3.6r and bought the tribeca. Only thing I can fault it on is it is weird to judge a downchange on hills. I tend to flick it to sport mode now which does the downchange better.
Is this a 5 speed auto characteristic (the forester was 4) or did you have no such trouble with the outback?

I had no problems with the outback. 5 speed auto box was magnificent. I had a Foz before the outback too, but manual 2.0 n/a

Have you changed the gearbox oil? May help
