Hello.... Have just purchased my 2nd Discovery 2, and thought I'd join up and say hello. Given this is my 2nd Discovery, I was a regular visitor previously reading and following all the threads for "common faults" - leaking sunroof, failed door locks, PAS failure, ACE failure, damped pulley failure, sagging headlining..... so, on reflection, a little surprised that I collected my "new" Td5 yesterday! I guess I'll be dipping in and out as the highs and lows of ownership wash over me. Bit of background - I now own a Black '53 plate ES Premium, Td5 Automatic, still on air at the rear, 7 seat. It's currently showing 86k on the clock. It's got the normal saggy headlining, a non-operational front sunroof, few bits of broken interior trim, the head unit seems to have given up it's relationship with the GPS antenna but I think job nr 1 will be some form of under-seal treatment to retain what appears to be a fairly robust chassis. I'll trawl through the posts and see what's already been posted in respect of these items! Anyway, will speak later!

As requested - can't take any credit for the photos as I've used the ones from the garage I purchased from!

Thanks Tucka, it's very straight, let's hope the previous owner hasn't used Kiwi Parade Gloss boot polish to cover all the scratches!!! (not that I should judge others by my own low standards!). Underside looks good too, usual surface rust and peeling paint, but goop added post manufacture, so want to catch that next.

Don't forget the OP started this thread nearly a year ago

Op?...im new and still getting used to the navigation of the sight. Can you tell me where is best for realistic (up to date) price comparison...based on 'car gurus' i think im well priced(negotiable) but not so sure when i look elsewhere although havent seen any manuals or many other ES premiums to compare it to.Im not taking the remapping into account when pricing. Any pointer would be greatfully recieved

He means Original Poster.
Be a little bit careful how much you talk about selling your vehicle. You are not supposed to sell things on the forum unless you have 50 constructive posts on LZ. It is the rules.
Also, members are pretty wary about valuing vehicles. It is a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Any vehicle is only worth what someone will pay at the time, and that will depend on location, condition of the vehicle, attitude of the seller, and other factors.

But basically, that is an oldish vehicle, they are quite expensive to run,the second hand car market is a bit flooded, and you are in a less populated area, so I would err on the side of caution if you expect a quick sale.

Maybe a couple of K. I paid £1200 for my D2, but that was a V8.

Ok thanks for the info. Ill take it into account. Its definately a minefield.

Single income family at the minute...having to cut down the monthly outgoings. Its been remapped so high insurance (reversible i know) tax insurance diesel all adding up(same for everyone). I think its in great shape and would like someone else to get pleasure out of it

Maybe a good strategy. But do bear in mind, small, economical cars tend to be quite expensive to buy, especially later models.
And you may want the 4WD capability in the winters up there, especially if you live of the beaten track.

Main issue people will look for with buying one of those is chassis rust, especially in high road salt areas. They are prone to chassis rot, especially the rear chassis and wheel arches.
