Welcome to the site. Feel free to drop any questions under Freelander forum later. I notice from you reg plate you seem to have already modified frontage compare to the standard model. Have you checked underneath for propshafts and a vcu. As to your engine how many miles has this covered. Plus what sort of service history been done.

Hi it's on a private reg, it's actually a 2005, facelift. ;) it's covered 98000 odd miles.
Has had new 3piece clutch kit, new head gasket, and to be fair it's clean and smooth. I believe the prop is still there, and has not been converted. I have a 4wheel drive button. If that makes sense. I'm new to all this 4x4 stuff. ;)
I do want to make it look mean and beasty, but no clue at moment,;)

viscous coupling unit
Connects the 2 prop shafts together and automatically transfers power to the rear wheels when the rotational difference between the prop's rises above a certain amount, to give 4x4.

Ah, OK. Thanks for that excellent description. I have not really used it much yet, waiting for the first to tax. I will let you know how 4 wheel drive goes.
Is there anything I can do to make it a bit quicker in the low gears, I know it's not fast. But wondering what to do to it.

Hi, im looking to buy a freelander but am first time driver, do you have any recommendations and things to look out for? thanks,

1. Budget how much you are willing spend.
2. 1.8 petrol version have an issue with early models for head gaskets.
3. Check the history of the vehicle first as their lots of choices to pick 1.8 2lt diesel td4 and v6.
4. If unfamiliar with the vehicle get AA or RAC to check over the vehicle. If you have a friend who knows what to look for in a freelander mores the better.
5. When looking at the vehicle always be wary first never dip your toe at the first one.
6. On the Freelander Forum section search for buying advice and pitfall to check for there are lots of good solid and reliable advice their first to arm yourself with.
7. Never be afraid to ask questions here.
Hope this helps in your search. John

Hi, to be honest I don't know much about them. Apart from the head gasket has been upgraded, and my services seem OK.
Myn was very clean, and a bargain 2005 reg for £1300
