Hello im new and need advice please

Hi all, i've got a disco 2 2003 and broke down at the weekend, i heard a clunk when i parked it up couple of hours later went to start it went into gear fine but wont move forward or backward, funny thing is when i leave hand break on and put into gear it moves ! i only moved it about 2 foot as dont want to naker summet else any body have any advice please

Probably stating the obvious - but have you checked that the transfer box lever (the small one) is in either L or H, not N?

If its in N, the car wont go anywhere. Dont think this would explain the movement when the handbrake is on though.

Also if its in H have you tried moving it to L to see if that works?

Hi , yes that were first thing i checked recovery man did say summet about a half shaft? ive not got a clue
