Just joined. Have recently bought a 1991 200tdi Discovery. Its a bit tatty, apparently im the 15th owner! But its only done 100,000 miles and all the rot has been sorted (plus it came with an extra set of wheels and tyres and it was less than £500!
Had a few dramas since August when i first purchased it. First had to replace the Alternator and put a new battery in it. Then had a short circuit as I drove it from the battery place which stopped the thing. Then the auto sparky I found only routed the wiring across the manifold which caught fire as I was driving it! (If you're in Plymouth and want a name so you can avoid him - contact me)
Fixed that with an ex army sparky mate of mine.
Just had the cambelt changed (cant be too careful)
Oh if you are in Plymouth/Devon I'd really like to pal up with other land rover/disco owners for greenlaning etc - contact me please
So now got two months till the MOT to sort it out - not that there is much wrong with it - I think (famous last words?)
Its just tatty inside - but Im sort of planning to fit it out with a via to taking it to Africa next summer - morrocco perhaps.
I had a Landrover Safari in South Africa in the 70's and more recently had a newer tidier Disco - but divorce meant in needed to cash it in to pay those darned solicitors.
