Hi folks,
I'm an Engineer in Aberdeen.
My first experience of LR's was in the scouts when my scout leader used to ferry us around in one. He was nuts about them but I never saw the interest then. When I moved up here 10 years ago I needed something that could cope. I bought my SWB ser3 from a farmer, and it pulled a huge horsebox full of stuff from Lincoln to Aberdeen. From then I was smitten. (and slightly deaf)
I liked the ideas of running a vehicle on vegetable oil from a purely environmental grounds, but although it was a Diesel, it only did around 20MPG, and with a lucas pump, was not an ideal candidate. Also , my marriage was not going great, and only being "allowed" to work on it after midnight, something had to go.
Two years on, and my gymnastic ex poledancing nurse :D allows me time to work on two landrovers, a peugeot 206 (which has cost me more money to fix than buying my first landy) and a peugeot 205 "disposable" diesel.
I am currently making the conversion parts for a montego 2.0L to go uinto the tax excempt series 3, and putting in a two tank system for SVO, the idea being to use a separate filler on the LHS, to match the standard on the RHS - just got to label them and fill from the outside :D
I'm also preping the peugeot 205 diesel for an MOT, but as I bought it for £80 as an MOT fail, i'm just doing it on the cheap using parts from Ebay.
This has the lucas pump, which I'm going to blow up, but I want to record viscosity/ temperatures/ pressures when I do , so others can use the info.
I am also developing various heaters for SVO, so let me know what you want .
Cheers.
