Having taken the plunge and bought a landy a month ago.... a 2006 Defender 110 Td5 county station wagon <3 it is time to join a community of like minded souls and start the life long task of tweaking it to be exactly right. I am quite sure help will be needed to dive into the long list of mods I have thought of so far...

So hello from Dumfries and Galloway and please be gentle with my daft questions.... Such as "does the dash clock ALWAYS make a noise, or is it just mine?" This may be the daftest (but most pressing!)query I ever have :D

I'm a bit ocd about ticking noises* and may have to take it out!! But if i do what could i replace it with?

*obviously the roar of the engine drowns it out when in action; its a parked up problem... i may wind up sleeping in it. :)

Welcome to lz, Sharon! :)

That is a very clean looking Defender. And a great looking location to photograph it in. Watch out for salt round your underside, though! A big chassis killer on landrovers, I live on a West facing coast too.

Hi Sharon. My clock makes no noise, whatsoever.
Your 110 looks great and that'sa spectacular picture you've captured it in. Welcome to the forum.

I am better with photography that mechanical stuff for sure :D

The clock though, i should say it only makes the tick on the minute moving, and when i say tick, its a tick and rattle. Could you humour me for a moment and have another wee listen?
I may swither between trawling ebay for a replacement clock before going for changing to a different gauge.

Och aye the nooh. Welcome. Hope you enjoy the landy. Some great quiet wee roads in D&G.
Great wee roads... though packed full of townies seeking the country air and tourists just now. Neither group who have a clue how to drive safely on country roads...or think they have a guest part in top gear (does that still exist?) which when added to silaging season.... fun times!

I'm not quite on the coast but spend a lot of time there... hoping for a week island hopping in a fornights time. I was pondering the old waxoyl thing or similar, to try and keep it in decent condition. :)

I'm on holiday at the moment and my Landy is back home, so I cant go and check. But, I've had it for ten years and reckon I would have noticed. I'm back tomorrow.
