Hello everyone,

after following this forum w/o a registration for quite a while now, I decided it's time to sign up and introduce myself.

I'm from Munich, Germany, and strictly speaking I'm not a Land Rover owner yet - unless you count a signed contract of purchase for a Defender 110 as a legitimate reason to include myself to your honourable club, that is ;-)

While waiting for my Defender, I'm picking up ideas for future customisation and modifications and (hopefully not too soon) repairs. I'm not planning to use the car for heavy off-roading but for travelling/camping off the beaten track. Scandivanian countries, UK & Ireland will be among my favoured destinations. Still, I'm dreaming about visiting Iceland again (have been there hiking some 20 years ago) - this time with a capable 4x4. So all in all I'm pretty confident that the 110 will be prove to be the right choice for me.

Probably I'll come up with questions here in the forum once I have the truck. I already learned that I have to broaden my vocabulary quite a bit: although I do speak technical English fairly well, I realised that I do not know the names of many car parts and tools. Within the last couple of weeks I already learned what bulkhead, swivel, head gasket and a few other terms mean ;-)

I'm sure, this forum will not only be a Landy forum but also a handy forum for a newbie such as myself.

Best greetings from Munich!

German technical descriptions although great in idea, tend to be really bloody complicated!

I gave up translating german o&m manuals and just look at the pictures :)

welcome

Just a quick test: I have posted a reply this morning (about 6 hours ago), and I got the message that my posting has to be checked by an administrator. So far, it hasn't turned up...
When I posted my initial posting as a thread starter, this didn't happen. Since I'm new to this forum: is this a normal behaviour? Or did something go wrong?

This is due to me having signed up just recently? OK, I can understand that. I was just wondering, why I could post the inital posting of this thread without any checks (and also my previous posting) but not my reply from this morning?

It's just the forum anti spam being a bit over sensitive because you posted a link (even though in was an in house link ) and you're new.

If you have any other problems you'll get a faster response if you press the report button. Anyway, your post has been approved :)

:welcome:
