Its now ready for its MOT..
I am not putting in for MOT yet cos I have been off work for a bit and am worried incase I get a big bill on things it may fail on that I don't know about..

Here she be all (hopefully) sorted..

I tried to get some shots of the underneath all painted up, but my camera phone does not have a flash..

I still need a new front wing for this side, but its ok as it is for now. I will wait until one comes up on ebay or I find one in the scrappers..

I am really pleased with how the wheels (I won on ebay for £3.20) turned out.. I did not have enough gloss or matt to do the whole lot, so I did a matt inner and a gloss rim.
The next major job will be to paint the car. I still don't know what colour yet, and I am going to try and get the dents pulled out and the new wing on first.
It fires up instantly and seems to drive ok, going up and down the drive, but I am still yet (after all this work) to see if its going to be a good car for me or not..

That turned out to be the case.. I just had me a £500 bill to get the MOT certificate
I had a lot of hassle with the garage, with every small job that needed doing taking loads more time than I thought they would..
I was charged for 9 hours work, including 2 hours work to replace a suspension arm bush (the nut was done up tight). That does not sound right to me..

All that needed doing in total was..

MOT.
3 new brake hoses and bleed the system.
A track rod end and re-do tracking.
Fit and align a customer supplied headlamp. (the old one failed the test)
new suspension arm bush.
Washers on the rear shocks to tighten them up

Thats it..

They had hassle with corroded nuts fitting the new brake hoses and had to replace some of the copper pipe, cos the nuts would not undo, but I cannot see how all this took 9 hours.
The parts came to £85 and the rest was labour @ £35 pr hour

Anyway, I got my MOT and then headed off to the nice place I am working at the mo..

Which Garage was that!
Told ya to take it to my son's place in Looe.
They saw you coming.

I forgot about that.. I took it to the garage on West Looe hill.. I have used them before and all been ok, but its not right this time.. Gonna go back and see them and get an itemised bill if I can..

Jonny, really enjoyed your thread. I have done pretty much the same, I didn't record mine though sadly, wish I had. I gotta say I got the bug, I am always tinkering now. well done mate

Cheers chap.. Good fun, isn't it.. Always something that needs doing..
I just ordered up a 200/300tdi timing belt tool kit and the belt, idler n tensioner. Been meaning to do it since I bought the car, but been skint..

Great job mate...!! I know where to come if I need stuff doin...LOL
I've heard a few things about B4 mentioned garage as well...
I would speak to them before you settle up or return..!!
Try someone else, as Trewey said about his sons or millpool garage is always fair, will quote 1st as well.. & I've never had any probes with them..

Been very busy on the Disco. Replaced the main and crankshaft bearings, put in a new timing belt, tensioner n idler and I have just painted it.
After uming and ahing over what colour to paint it, a mate of mine found some cheap chassis paint that he was impressed with, so I went with that.
It was a bit too cold when I painted it and I got more runs than Brian Lara, but I managed to sort most of them. I will re-do it again when it warms up (if it ever warms up )

Loads more stuff to sort on it, like the front bumper needs tidying, the interior needs sorting. I still have the oil light flickering on idle, and its leaking a bit of oil from the head gasket, so will sort that at some point..

Hey Jonny! Just found this thread and thought I'd let you know that your old 110 is MOT'd and back on the road as of friday! It passed second time round on chrismas eve but I'v had to wait till payday to get the tax n insurance sorted. Thats superb mate :) I am really pleased for you, and that my old girl is still going.
Thanks for the update, n I hope she is as reliable for you as she was for me.
Give me first refusal if you ever want to sell, but I reckon you got the bug and will keep on improving her eh..
If I had known I can still weld, I would never of sold her, but I didn't know about this forum back then.
I look forward to the updates :)
