Hey. I just bought my first Land Rover. A 90 crew cab with a 19 j engine, the whole thing will need a good bit of work to get her on the road but hoping to have it as my daily. Can't wait to get started on it.

Thank you. Im planning on stripping it right down and assessing from there. The rear crossmember is rotten anyway.

The body is fairly straight. Some dings here and there but nothing too extreme.

I've half a mind to get it in the road ASAP and do it a rolling restoration.

Good lad, to many people rip it to bits and then take years to put them back together. Not trying to put you off but how common are they stolen over there?

I Dont think its as big a problem over here at the moment but ive already had a think about securing the vehichle. Pedal box, Alarm, removable steering wheel.

Has no NCT(MOT) at the moment so was thinking repair chassis, repair doors, re do the seats and try get it driving as quick as possible.

Hello Doddie from Dublin and welcome to the Landyzone forum.

It's good to learn of a new member from Ireland. I'm in County Leitrim and don't see too many LR "traditional" vehicles around

I'll be keeping it as a pick up. I've not seen many around Dublin so would be something different

You look like you are in D4 Doddie. It's high time we had a few LR in and around D4. Way too many BMW X5s!

I have an ex ESB Td5 which I have been renovating for the past five or six years whilst using it for towing a couple of times a week. During that time I have been able to make a few useful contacts so, if you are looking for anything in the Republic, just call out and if I can be of any assistance I will be pleased to help.

I'm a northsider and there certainly isn't any landys over this side either. Thanks for the offer. No doubt I will be calling out at some stage.

Is your td5 one of the bright yellow ones?

Yes bright yellow but getting as much black paint on it as possible. My children hate the colour and refuse to let me collect or drop them of at school. There are however a number - small number of advantages. Firstly it's easy to find in the Tesco car park and secondly, the Guards give you less attention.
