Hi everyone. I haven't bought a land rover yet so I'm looking for some advice. Any at all will be really helpful. I've posted in the general chat section. Like I say any advice would be great.
Thanks.

Welcome to your new obsession!

My advice is decide on the model you think you want and your reasons why.

Defenders hold price better and are more 'robust' i.e. easier to clean inside and very well suited to farm type work.

Discoverys are more 'refined' and more comfortable for family life but dirty feet and dogs on cloth interiors mean extra cleaning.

Series - the early Defenders really (well how I see them but I don't know much about land rovers as the gurus on here)

Range Rovers - bigger and higher spec only thing I know is be careful of P38's due to electrical faults but the answers to the problems will be well covered on here I am sure.

That is about the sum of my knowledge gleamed from owning a 2001 Disco 2 for about a year. Great peices of kit and I wished I bought one when my dad said too some 25 years ago.

Before you buy read read read then go with a list to check and if possible take someone who knows with you if possible, clubs seem to great for this type of help. Allow in your budget to change the obvious things i.e. oil and filter change, injector looms on TD5's as the are prone to carrying oil to the ECU, you will work this list out when you know which Land Rover you are after.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Well good luck.
I, too, am a complete newbie to LR after years of dreaming.
Bought a Freelander 1 td4 and Love it.
Could not justify cost of a Disco and let's face it the freelander can do the vast majority of what it is needed for. FUN.
That's the main thing.
Enjoy.
