Hello,

I just joined the forum, I have been trying to find a Defender 90 TD5 for a few months now and must have looked at quite a number. I am not a Defender expert;I have owned a few Range Rovers in the past, but have a lifetime's experience in classic vehicles, many of which I run in competition.
I can't seem to find a good one, I need it to be LEZ compliant (so post 2001)and ideally a County HT with good straight bodywork, clean interior, good mechanicals and no rot in the chassis etc. for about 10 to 11K. It will be used for a winter run around and support vehicle (occasional light towing and carrying sets of spare wheels etc for an historic competition car in the summer) so maybe max. 3000 miles per year.
Every time I see something that looks OK from a dealer, I check all the forums for feedback and read bad reports (like County & Defender Centre, Hinckley and Yan The Landy Man in Bolton) I visited C&D C and have to say he seemed genuine enough.
I have visited or talked to a dozen other dealers (some obviously to be avoided) and some who seemed straight and honest (Brooklyn 4x4, ExMOD Defender Centre) I live in London but am prepared to travel to find the right vehicle.

Now I am just confused, who are the good guys and where should I look?
Maybe my budget is unrealistic?

I have found a couple of excellent 300TDi's rebuilt on new galvanised chassis but sadly none were LEZ compliant (such a stupid farce as the same vehicle registered from new as a factory CSW is not subject to the LEZ rules)

Any advice gratefully received! Thank you.
