Hi, just in the middle of restoring a 70k 1997 V8 Discovery. Its not been on the road for 5 years and just been stood in a garage. Its remarkably in good condition, hardly any rust underneath BUT needs major recommissioning work which I've started.
New Springs & shocks, new swivels & wheel-bearings, new poly bush kit all around, brake discs & pads, All done!

The engine runs sweet enough, but has a tiny tap in cold start up, so new camshaft & buckets. A few of the legendary oil-leaks to sort and it'll be sound.
Only PITA at the moment is a few electrical gremlins :mad::mad:
Complete deep clean of the interior and it'll be roadworthy.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like a very nice vehicle you are going to end with with there. Was it initially yours or have you just bought it? Sounds like a bit of a lucky barn find. :)

Nah, wasn't mine. Bought it blind off the Bay of E. Went down to London to drive it back with a 12 month ticket last year (stopped off a Halfrauds for a new battery mid route, but it made it 250 or so miles back to Oldham. Used as was till the MOT lapsed then took it in for one, failed on a leaky PAS pipe, loose brake pipes, seatbelt & corner reflector not secure. Had quite a few advisories so thus all the work I've done. Underneath is totally undersealed little bits just showing. So I thought I'd blitz it completely, then make it look nice on top too.
