Picked up an old Freelander this week as a second car and the information I've gained from everyone has been a tremendous help. I've already stripped out the VCU and drive shaft to minimise the damage being done from permanent 4 wheel drive!
Next stop will be the CV joints and rubbing crankcase cover i think.
