Hey all,

After 18 months of driving cars (Mazda RX 8 and Abarth Grande Punto) I have finally turned back to the dark side and got a defender again. I owned a 90 CSW 300Tdi for 3 years and poured my heart and soul into her and just has she was finished she was stolen from a pub car park.

I now have a new defender 110 (picture attached), which I plan to do up for expedition/overland driving. I live in the northants area so anyone wanting to meet up for a bit of off roading / green laning / drinking let me know.

A bit about me... I am an ex squaddie recovery mechanic so if anyone wants to know how to use there winch properly let me know :p. I'm now a full time student studying Electrical and Electronic engineering.

Dave

hey mate, welcome to the asylum!

im in south bucks so not a million miles away, i think b3aker is near you, and theres fooking loads in hertfordshire. if you ever get bored bein too far up norf pop down this way, drinks and greenlanes a plenty round this way!

cool man we'll have to sort something out. The lanes around here are nothing to get excited about lol so I wouldn't mind going somewhere else. Anyone thought about organising something to salisbury plain or something.

if you check out the laning section theres a few trips to salisbury and the like

what you doing this sunday? it seems there is a half decent group going to whaddon

unfortunaly my landy is on serious overhaul at the moment. Its getting rear seats and belts fitted, polybushed, 2" lift put on, front discs and pads changed, winch wired up, spot lights wired up, volty and ammy fitted, boost gauge fitted, mud pod, full service and steering guard fitted. However once it gets to a state where its ready to move i'll be all over it.

Dave

I've got a salisbury on my new one. I'm not sure if i'm keen the amount of broken ones i seen in the army... i'd replace it with the normal type. yours a 300?

yea 1994 300

to be honest with you, they are awesome. they are pretty bomb proof. i definitely wouldnt change it! you can knock em about all day long and they dont often complain, unlike theo ther ones which go pop. i used to have smalelr mud terrains on and obviously it meant ground clearance was an issue. i just did everything 10mph faster and made huge ****off furrows with the rear diff and it didnt complain.

well obviously now it is, but. well lets just say i have been giving the old girl a lot of stick recently. thrashed her half to death the other weekend!

yea i'm getting large at's so should be ok. The tyre tends to spin before the axle breaks lol. arte your diff breathers run up out of the way. You might be destroying diffs because of muddy water getting into the oil? When i used to do challenge they were run into out snorkel but we still used to have to drain the oil every few events...

yea dont worry the issue has been sorted!

and dont get at's they are pants, and they look pants as well get some proper tyres :p

what AT'S you going for?

from what i have seen (and i am brand biased because i currently got baja claws) the mickey thompson baja ATZ look real good. they are slightly more aggressive than your standard AT, but sitll give awesome mileage and MPG
