Hello, all, been a Land Rover owner since 1979 when I bought an ex military light weight from Simmonites. Present vehicles are a 1982 Series 111 which I have owned from new & more recently added a mk1 Freelander Freestyle TD 4 2006 reg. Already experienced the weaknesses of the Td 4. BMW engine. Just owned it 4 months & had to fit a new high pressure fuel sensor wiring loom & have the high pressure fuel pump rebuilt due to a diesel leak. I live near Wolverhampton & lucky to have a local Land Rover mobile mechanic & also an independent Land Rover garage which can cater for the bigger jobs. I can recommend both & can give details if anyone living near Wolverhampton is interested.

:welcome2: Those were the days when Simmy used to come out, advise and even get dirty if you had a problem!

I spent many happy hours at his place with my Series I, often not spending a penny, as he had a pile of bits that I could rummage through!

You might find that many on here can be very helpful, whilst at the same time enjoying a bit of fun ... and not only with the noobs!

Try not to mention the Gaylander too often ...

Stick around, and enjoy yourself.

Thanks Oldseadog, Will try not to mention the Freelander too often, just when she gives issues. Reminising about Simmonites when I was looking for an Airportable I went to Ruddington realised that all the LR's there needed towing off so came away without one but did make a note of Lot Number 204 a Series 111 SWB Airportable in the catalogue. Saw Simmonotes ad in the Exchange & Mart & rang them & without seeing a vehicle reserved a "straight" SWB as they said they had bought 12 from Ruddington. Two weeks later went to fetch my Landie & I was delighted to see it was Lot Number 204. Kept it for several years & wished I had never parted with it.
