Heating oil instead of diesel

Does anyone know if you can run a doosel injun on heating oil?
I know it is slightly illegal.
I have this friend who asked me this and he has a Peugeot 306 diesel.
Well this friend of mine has a neighbour who is moving and offered him abart 200 litres of his heating oil rather than leave it behind. My friend doesn't have oil heating but wondered if it would run in his Pug instead.
If so, neat in the tank or what ratio of heating oil/pump doosel?

It'll run, but heating oil doesn't lubricate the pump or injectors like diesel.
Mix it 75/25 diesel/heating oil or add a litre of cheap engine oil per 25 litres.
