heater

hi guys just replaced the chassis on my 1972 landrover it passed it MOT first time a bit of a surprise to me but it the heater i know they are rubbish but i get loads of air the clear the windows but not even the slightest bit of hot air (or even warm)someone said block the rad with card or silver foil all that happens is the temp gauge goes up quicker to hot. should i be getting some warm air coming through

does the matrix within the heater/fan assembly get warm ? - if it doesnt it may well be full of gunge

hi never looked at that the top hose gets hot the hose going to the the matrix gets hot will get it running tomorrow and see if the matrix heats up was looking on fleabay for a thermostat there was a 74 and a 82 degree one will it matter which on i buy. gonna replace this anyway.

cheers sean i flushed the matrix i now get warm air coming through i have just got a 82 degree thermostat will fit that tomorrow
