tyne & wear
hi all,my heater was working on full speed but now its stoped working.
ive just bought a brand new heater control switch, fitted that and heaters
still not working??
checked the fuse & that's ok just don't no what to do??
any help or info will be much appreciated:mad:

Pull the connector apart at the heater and with the meter on meter the connector pins looking for 12V. If the connector is going live then it's probably a fried motor - they will pack in one day.

If you have no meter you could use a sidelight lamp and a piece of wire...

Make sure the motor isn't stuck before you do anything else, sometimes it gets full of muck (especially if the drain isn't cleaned regularly) and a spin with a finger is enough to get it going again.

Remove the intake grill and clean out the intake ducting making sure that the drain is clear. Look down the duct with the aid of a torch to see if the motor is clogged. If it all looks ok then put your hand in and give the motor a spin (best make sure the power is off at this point). If it is tight then it is probably seized but it may free off however replacement is probably on the cards. If it frees off and then spins freely then it was just jammed (although this should have blown the fuse).

Try spinning it when switched on at full speed, just watch your fingers.
Mine was doing its best not to work, power at the motor so I span it and it fired up, it was slow and I soon found out that its a faulty connection down inside the motor, when I pull the wires it works a treat.
Just one more job to do this week end.

Also buy a meter, a bulb is pretty useless when you need to measure voltage, all it will do it tell you if you have power.

thanks for the info guys.
I will check and see if ive got a live at the motor & might take the vent of
& check see if the motor is free.
ive looked on ebay & they seem very pricey for replacement & also looking at resistor
packs they seem very expensive?
or is this just the going rate or second hand?
is there any land rover breakers around the north east ?
thanks again will let you no what happens

Might? Dude you would be a fool not to check if the fan/motor is crudded up. Get your hand in there and give it a spin, stop being a big wendy.

hi been out and took the air vent of wing,& the motor spins fine checked that im getting live in & out of the plug to the heater box and am.fuse obviously ok took clocks out but im not grtting a live to the plug or the heater switch?
I noticed behind the clocks that there was a plug behind the clocks with a red plug 3 wires going to it a red & orange, purple & black one of the wires is live and didn't no if that meant to be pluged in anywere? ive looked but carnt find anywere obvious?
when I took the vent of the duct was nice & clean the hole wasn't blocked & the motor was spinning free?
any help will be appreciated thank you.
