Hi everyone, as I am sure you are aware land rover series are rusty. This includes the heater blower housing, mine has disintegrated. I have the motor and it works and all, I need a new housing or complete set if one can be found for a decent price. Has anyone else had this happen? If so how did you source the part etc. Any advice would be very welcome. Plz help bit of a newbie here lol.

You would be better off posting this in the Series section of the forum. Or, @blue beasty might move it for you.

Expensive even if you can find one. Looks like a long wait on ebay or off to a scrap yard.
I half remember someone on here making their own but it involved lots of bending and spot welding.

I took a different approach and added an electric inline blower, taking air from behind the radiator and straight into the heater box.

Cheap and easy, good ram-air effect and even with the bikini roof on I still feel the warmth.

Series 3 109 - 1973 - Full Restore

As everyone else has said is basically correct. I am in the process of doing this with mine. It took me about 18 months to find a housing at reasonable price at one of the auto jumbles. If you can weld it may be possible to repair your current one and if you cant weld you may be able to fibreglass patch it, but again depends on how far done it is. Lots of people have also gone down the non original route similar to @WoodyO, there are several threads on here of people using bilge blowers as the fan.
