Going to fit a new heater matrix to my 110 in an effort to stave off some of the frostbite I get when driving along at the moment.

I know the one in there currently is f**ked, as it didn't work properly last winter either - but I've now fitted a Tdi to the beast since then. When I fitted it, I completely bypassed the matrix by just connecting the two outlets on the head together with some pipe.

Now I want to get the heater going again - so fitting the new matrix shouldn't be a problem - but I'm wondering how I'm going to plumb it up, seeing as I've lost the original pipes that were there, and they probably wouldn't have fitted anyway.

So what I'm asking is - can I just use two flexible rubber hoses, instead of the metal piping that was originally there? Also, what ID pipe will I need to get hold of?

Cheers :D

Don't see why not - as long as you don't kink them. I used sections of rubber hose to join the 200tdi pipe to the original 19j fittings. 1/2" is the size that comes to mind - but not guaranteed! :D

As above, then subsequently changed to a TD5 heater - much better but I do intent to redo the pipe work next year.

I used 13mm flexi pipe to join the rubber hoses.
