hello ladies and gentlemen.

Regard me as a total halfwit, and please tell me how to fix my heater. Last year i was chipping ice off the inside and i really can't be arsed doing it again

cheers

danny

does the heat exchanger (within the engine bay) get warm ? same for the 2 feed pipes ?

it may well just be that the flap mechanism needs adjusting, or that the cable from the heater control slider is broke

Mine was broken this year. But I noticed the handles weren't moving properly. Took off the instrument panel and there was a dead wasp stuck at the bottom of the fan handle. Year before it was a dried piece of mud :p

You should still get heat into the cab even if the flaps are not moving properly - Well you do on mine anyway even though i have tried adjusting them loads of times the hot/cold flap is more like a warm/hot flap.

My thought would be a load of ****/rust blocking up the inlet to the heat exchanger - you can take the two pipes off the heat exchanger (with the engine off) and connect your hose pipe to it and sloly turn on the water to flush it out.

If it is leaking out the bottom of the heater box then the matrix is gone and needs replacing - when mine went the obvious sign was that antifreeze kept condensing on the windscreen, and i had a bit of a headache after i had driven for a while after breathing in a fine dust of anti freeze !

If ye try turnin' the heater on can ye hear if it's actually workin'?
If not then check yer fuse furst (as said above), if not that then it might be the fan motor inside the heater box or this thing that sits under the square plate on the top of the box...

or it might be a dodgy connection on yer switch;)
