P38A Heater Core O Rings

Yep, see what you mean.... Got the new o rings on (old ones were like bakelite), but getting the pipes located and the screw tightened up again is proving a bit of a challenge on my own. Time for a cuppa while I ponder picking on a random neighbour to assist.
 
Well that was fun. Not helped by the fact someone had clearly changed the o-rings in the past (access hole already cut out for screwdriver), but they'd cross-threaded the screw in to the clamping block.

After replacing the screw and chasing the threads out, life got much easier.

Next problem - purging air from the system. About 10l coolant out, 6l back in. Off for a run round some hills and corners now to slosh it around a bit.

On the V8 I just ran it at about 2000 rpm with the cap off and squinted through the gap where the bonnet was up to check it wasn't bubbling over. Nip round every so often and top up.
