How can you change the bulbs in the Heater control unit or can you change them, had a quick look at it today and it seems like you have to strip the whole lot apart to get to them or is it easier to change the whole unit.

Changing the bulbs is pretty simple there are only five you can change four are changeable without stripping anything. Three black and one green bulb holder. Other of course than removing HEVAC from car. Other under fan speed control needs rotary control removing to do it. Way to do that is squeeze control in various places around it's circumference with your thumb and finger until you find the point where it flexes in and the catches release. Must be lifted straight off don't try to lever it or there will be tears if a tang breaks. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROV...hash=item41a4b7da69:m:m72mHJ1gxgIRP3l_3KjBrjQ

The bulbs I am talking about are the ones on the heater temp switch, so can you just leaver the switch out or as you said take the fan control off and that releases the front to come off.

No don't lever anything. Are you talking Hevac unit or do you have the poverty heater with three rotating controls? Sorry don't know anything about that unit. But cannot see it being difficult.

I bought some bulbs a few years ago figuring I'd need them one day and if I got bored I'd replace them as preventative maintenance ... still waiting for me!

Yes it a Hevac unit, that's why I was asking about changing a couple of blowen bulbs.

If it's an Hevac unit the only bulb you can change with it in the car is the one under the fan control. To change the others you have to remove it to get at the back of it.

You must have a complete spare P38 in your shed J.:)

Getting there. It is getting a bit silly to be honest. It is about 6' square with floor to ceiling racking and I can barely move. I cannot so a job without moving something first. Guess I could buy a bigger house but how long before I fill that up?!
