Heated Seats

I picked up two heated seat pads from Aldi for £9.99 each. Each one contains a bottom and backrest heated pad as one unit. They come with a high quality car cig plug on the end. I chopped the plugs off mine and wired directly to my aux fusebox each on a 10 amp fuse.

They have a 3 way switch with low/off/high settings. You can feel the heat through them as soon as you switch them on (faster than my BMW, but that's probably because the material will be thinner on these). I had to turn down to low after a few minutes.

My seats are vinyl and I've noticed the pads move around a bit, but I've not used the supplied clips to fasten them down yet. I'm thinking of adding some ordinary seat covers over the top of them to keep everything in place.

I thought I would write up this mini-review in case it helps anyone. For the record, my defender heater works great, but it just takes too long for my engine to warm up in the morning, so this will help me when the cold sets in.

They come with a 3 year warranty so should be decent - won't apply in my case having hacked the plugs off of course

Good idea. I'll give that a go at the weekend.

Ive fitted a few now to different cars merc c class wasnt bad, merc e class harder, micra was a real pita, defender by far the simplest.

Had one of them Aldi seat pads last winter,my good lady said it was very nice.

Are they still going strong? Looking at doing this to mine

Have you got any pics of them ? Toying with buying a kit of some sort for mine

No pics. I'm still using them. Don't switch them on much, only when it's really cold, then they are nice and cosy.

I've not fitted mine under the seats yet, but it really needs doing as they are a pain to keep in place on top of the seats. Extra care is needed getting in and out.

I'm not sure if the top and bottom pads can be split which would be needed to allow the seat base to be separated. When I get time, I'm going to open one up and find out.
