Hi, I've just this week brought a discovery 300tdi and I want to give it a health check/good service just so I know that it's all up to date and running smooth..

Just wondered if anyone had any advice on what to do and and change ect...

Cheers in advance!

Dan

Do you have any history with the vehicle, or even roughly when it was last serviced?

Every car i buy, the first thing i do is renew all fluids/belts/filters - whether the last owner has said they were done or had them done.

That way i know where i stand on servicing. :)

Wheel Bearing check, brakes, common rust spots (boot and door/sills) sunroof if fitted for leaks, chassis. And as Carl said all the fluid's don't forget the axle/diff fluids

Part history and the guy said he had been servicing it himself, was originally a landrover courtesy vehicle and only had one owner since and only 80,000 miles on the clock!
But from mot records it didn't have one last year so if he hasn't serviced it this year like he said then it's been a few years or more!!

Im in the same boat as you, ive just done all fluids including gear box, transfer box, diffs, engine oil and filter, fuel filter, air filter, getting timing belt and drive belt done too, along with odd bits of welding, best to know where you stand with it.
Enjoy it :) I love driving mine :)

One more thing if your feeling brave, pull up the carpets and see what holes and rust patches you have, I did mine 2 weeks ago and there all still up waiting to be welded :(
Check the sills too, expect rust and holes! ;)

Rule One: never lift the carpet!
Rule Two: never lift the carpet!
Rule Three: never lift the carpet...
U seeing the pattern emerging here?
