One year ago I have repaired my sagging headlining by using new fabric and special headliner spray adhesive. The result was very nice, like new! Until this summer:(
I have recognized that it has started to be loose again on several places especially in turns where it has more tension, probably due to high temp.
Looks that I have to remove and glue it again, now with different adhesive.
Anyone of you has more than a year good experience with such repair? If it is still OK, what glue and preparation you have used?

Never had much success with headlinings.
I am wondering whether to remove the material and, after cleaning up the backing, to spray paint the backing.
I'm sure I read of someone doing that on here but not sure if it was a defender rather than a disco.

Yes it could be a way but i have wanted to make it "original". If it will fail again maybe i will try an other way as well, painting or " flocking".
Or just fix the fabric with plastic rivets

I will give one more try to the fabric. I have ordered special spray adhesive (from Loctite) which hopefully will do the job. If not, I will paint...

I had the same experience with the adhesive I first tried. I was able to find a can of 3M Super 77 industrial-grade adhesive and the headliner has been stuck in place for the past 2 years. Also be generous with the adhesive.

Thanks. Good to know that a better grade adhesive can do the job! I will try Teroson VR 5000 which is also industrial grade and developed for car interior.
