Hi I am went to change the bulbs in the headlights the other day and noticed that it was a sealed unit :( I am want to buy the plastics bowls for the lights so it is not a sealed unit does anyone know of anywere that sells them I know paddocks do but not to sure then were you get the glass for the front of it from  thanks in advance Gilbo. :)

buy the Halogen conversion ( upgrade ) lights from paddocks . throw the seald units away there Crap . if you need bowls too grab them at the same time

after you put in the halogen light units you'll be runnig H4 bulbes then - do it you wont be disapointed by upgrading to halogens :D

.

I would go with Paddocks... suggest the Ring conversion kit part no PM1039. E rated so okay for MOT standard. £22.50 plus vat. If you spend over £50 postage is free. I have mine sat next to me :) on my list to fit but busy with little jobs for MOT this week
Mine is a 1994 90 300tdi... make sure you order ones for your veh and not mine!

I have done the conversion suggested on my classic its brilliant ,the light are now superb BUT its only a small but ,you will find theres a lot more power going through the dipswitch ,after a while the springs go in the switch!!!!new switch needed...however if while you are on you should fit a couple of relays in the wires to the headlights, you can buy em in pairs on a bracket, find the wires coming from the dswitch to the high and low beams and cut them wire them up to the relays at one side supply power to the other side and use the wires from the dipswitch to trigger the relays ,now you have very little power going thro the switch, the relays take the strain ,,,simples...ps dont forget to earth the relays or they wont work.....hope this helps ..dave

I got an mot advisory saying my headlight pattens were weak last year so when mot was up again in november I decided to take the plunge and order the wipac halogen upgrade with the crystal bulbs from paddocks and new plastic buckets too. I haven't changed any wiring but replaced the main beam switch at the same time for unconnected reasons. The headlights are so much better now I can actually see! Not a scratch on the xenons in my merc but great for a defender. Highly recommended.

I thought about doing the upgrade....but not good for me.

I spend enough time getting mud and water out of the lights on the disco, which is not a problem as they are easy to pop out..

but doing the same on the Defender?? no way... I kept my sealed units!
