Just changed the headlight units on my 93 Discovery and can't find any guidance as to setting them. I suppose I need a mark on the wall just below the centres but how far back should the car be? The haynes book's no help just says go to a specialist.

I've always done mine about 2 to 3ft from the wall (White garage doors are good) and never had any problems. If you mesure the centres between lights and the height off the ground of the other one and make the new one the same it should be right.

Shame I didin't measure the height before replacing them, guess the height will be from ground to lamp centre then. As the beam pattern on Disco 1's is crap which light pattern would you suggest aligning on?

it will cost ya about a tenner at a garage to get them aligned correctly, stop being tight and get them set up on the machine. then ya can mark the beam pattern out on a wall and your set for the next time !

I second that.........., I thought you had only done one so the other would still be set.
