Header tank cap question.

Hi guys

how tight does a header tank cap need to be, very tight so you can't turn it anymore or just hand tight, ( 03 disco 2 td5 ) the reason i ask is the original cap is leaking coolant due to worn seals so i replaced it with a ( britpart one off ebay hopeing it would be a genuine one ) anyway with the britpart one fitted i checked the level a couple of weeks ago and came to remove the cap to check the level and the center stayed in the tank and the top of the cap was in my hand, so re fitted the genuine one back on to get me to a land rover dealer in stockport to get a genuine one, but guess what they didn't have any in stock so went to land ranger in stockport but they only had britpart ones in and being desperate i bought one, anyway yesterday i rechecked the level and the same thing happened again i have rang guy salmons is stockport and they still haven't got any, so is it me over tightening the cap or is it because its a britpart one.

They should need to be 'hand snug' - certainly not 'with all your strength' tight.

But being britpart doesn't help...
