Good evening all

I am after a bit of help from a Land Rover specialist and think i've come to the right place.

I have owned a 2003 Freendlander 1 Serengeti for the past 3 years and have recently began experincing an issue with the CD player. The head unit remains functional but its as if someone is turing it down, until such time as i cannot hear any sound. This began quite infrequantly and became more and more frequant.

I replaced the land rover head unit with an aftermarket CD player to see if the land rover head unit was at fault but i still get the same thing. In fact with an aftermarket head unit i cannot even get sound out of the speakers, the head unit is still lit up and functional.

I have left the aftermarket head unit in for the minute whilst i play around and have managed to get sound out of the speakers if i un-plug and re-connect the orange headed electical plug into the back of the head unit whilst the key is turned. As soon as i turn the car off and back on again it stops any sound. Again the head unit remains lit up as it should but no sound!

I had run out of ideas and then heard an idea that some freelanders have a built in AMP to power the speakers. Does anyone know anything about this and where it is? Does it sound to you like this can be the issue?

If anyone can help here i would be most greatful.

Many thanks
