1 of many wiring problems at the moment, when i bought my fender the headlights didn't work, turns out there was no fuses for them, so i put some fuses in, only problem is when you put them in the lights stay on? the switch seams alright it switched the side lights fine, I even disconnected the switch altogether but they still stay on. any ideas? thanks Chris
 
Forgot to say, my side lights just blow a fuse both sides do, which i believe means there is a live touching the bodywork somewhere, would this have something to do with it?

Managed to blow both my sidelight fuses yesterday by accidentally short circuiting something in the rear n/s light wiring. May be no help as my Defender rear loom, appears to have been re wired by a blind person using trailer cable, but the thought and support was there.

That could be a problem as well then, my back left is having problems as well
 
Try your number plate lamp wiring, I am not sure how its fed and from which fuse, but that seems to be what I shorted out to earth.
 
I just bought a new number plate light fitting, all of the wiring behind is pretty damp and the connectors are pretty corroded so I'm going to start there I think. Thanks for your ideas doesn't sound as bad as I was thinking it would be
