I know this is covered plenty of times but I can't seem to find the specific answer.

So I have a freelancer 1.8 (don't judge me) 03 manual.

My HDC was working, then I took the relay out to test something. (I didn't need it as the switch soldering had gone on the gear stick) Forgot about it, and put it back in 3 months later.
Anyway, today I put a new relay in, and soldered up the switch wires. But its not engaging the HDC!
What I've tested so far....
1) the switch wires are running at 13.5v
2) I've swapped the relays with a working identical
3) I've bypassed the switch to make sure it wasn't the switch
4) Tested the dash light, its fine, comes on with startup check
5) Tested every fuse I can possibly find.

Now I'm stumped, any ideas?
Thanks

Does the green light on the instrument pack do anything when you engage the switch?

Have you checked the under bonnet fuses as well?

Any other warning lights on?

Hi,
No the green light does not kick in, I've checked the bonnet fuses and no other warning lights come on ( they all work )

have u tried to disconnect ur battery for 30 mins then reconnect so it forces the ecu to recalibrate and go through its own sequence ??

when I removed my centre dash hdc switch and reconnected the battery with the hdc off ,

refitted my centre dash reconnected the hdc with the battery still connected , it didn't work

left the battery off for 30 mins ,connected the hdc switch ,then put the battery back on and it worked

mines an auto and had it in park, pushed the hdc switch and the green light started flashing

when I selected first gear it stayed a steady green
