Can you help me please??!!..........

Range went off to Tinley Tech to be LPG converted last week. Meant to come back today but chap has called to say that the ABS light has come on and now wont go off. It was fine until it went. Chap says possibly a wheel bearing or that he's knocked a sensor.........thoughts?....

It has had a new accumalator on it (receipts came with the car when we bought it)

Apparently Tinley Tech are going to hook it up to diagnostics but any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thank-you
Andrea

ABS lamp should come on with ignition for a second or so, blink off and come back on again. It will then go out as car reaches around 5mph and signals from wheel sensors are confirmed. The airgap between the sensor and reluctor ring is minute, a worn wheel bearing will push the sensor away. Make sure sensor wiring is sound and that all sensors are fully engaged until they touch the reluctor rings. Air gap will set as wheels turn.

Hi Wammers, yes, I understood that the ABS would go through it's cycles before the light would go off. I'll pass the info on to Tinley regarding the bearing.
Thank-you

If they drove it up on to say a ramp or kerb it may have given the sensor a slight knock?

Drove mine (slowly!) onto a kerb (head on) and the light came on. Got out and made sure all the sensors were in restarted and light still on with ABS fault. Restarted again and light went out. Hopefully it's just one of those things...telll em to be more gentle with your baby!

Hi Keith :D U OK?
Chap doing the conversion is a P38 fan and is aware. It's been fine until he did a final run up this afternoon before returning the car.

All fine here Andrea, hope all is good with you. Three inches of rain in 24 hours when you live in a water mill does focus the mind though:eek:
Perhaps ABS now means About to Blow to Smithereens now you have incorporated a gas bomb:rolleyes:;):D

Maybe just because the battery has been off or the battery voltage is low.

All great here Keith, other than the car - Just get it running right and this happens!!! right old PITA!
The rain here has been dreadful also. My 15 minute journey to work is currently taking 50 mins to allow for flooded roads/roads that are having to be pumped - Again, a right PITA!
Lol at your ABS - That'll be me if this isnt sorted ASAP - Blowing my stack. Lets hope you are right and it's just a red herring caused by the battery having been off/low voltage - We need a fingers crossed icon for these situations!! ;)

I just wanted to post a conclusion for anyone searching for something similar in the future.

Diagnostics showed up that there was an ABS ECU fault. Cleared this, started teh car and it hasnt come back. Diagnostics chap thinks that a sensor had been knocked during the conversion.

All running beautifully on LPG now. Neat conversion, and a good service from Tinley Tech - Time will tell how good the system is but the customer service has been fab.

Went and topped the tank up last night - that made me smile - I like it when the litres go up faster than the £'s! Long time since I've seen that on one of my cars Lol!

Glad you got it sorted Andrea. Could be just disconnecting the battery spiked the ECU, I assume they did disconnect the battery to do the work, the main thing is it's fixed.:)
