Hi

I have owned my ex mod 110 2.5 na diesel for a week now. I am really loving it and it beats driving around in modern stuff :)

The only problem I seem to be having is sometimes I have real trouble getting into 3rd gear. Whether its a coincidence or not, it only seems to happen after ive been driving a while.

Its like the slot for 3rd gear just disappears and i end up having to skip 3rd.

Is this a common problem?, Anything simple I can do to rectify this?

I have very limited knowledge on landys at moe. Willing to learn :)

I had the same problem with my disco, esp when cold,
changed gearbox oil and it got better, a lot better, thought i'd solved it. But later i found it tricky finding 4th say if changing down at speed...turns out i also have a broken "gear selector bias plate" according to service outfit, (could have been a consequence of not having regular fluid changes?)cheap part and quick fix they reckon, Common fault with r380 disco they also said.

Cheers for the replies.

I think i will try change the gearbox oil then. Will have to buy myself a haynes manual :) Hoping to do the job myself.

Next question.... What gearbox oil should I buy and where from?

I did that with the aid of the manual, but tbh i found more help on LZ with using the correct tools, locating the drain and fill points, and taking things apart in the correct sequence to avoid disaster.
Mine is an R380 gbox, if you have same gis a shout and i'll let you know what i did, if you need help.

ATF is what I need then. Been flicking through lots of previous threads on here and there seems to be big debates about what oils should be used.

Where can I order the atf from? Is there different types of atf and if so what one to get?

Cheers guys
